Marion Cotillard is such a stunning lady!!! AND she’s super sexy in the Dark Knight Rises!!
Consolers of the Loney- The Raconteurs
Track #12 “Rich Kid Blues”: This song totally sounds like a mix of “Sylvia” by Focus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OznS7X9BOxs) and Keith Emerson’s organ tone from anything ELP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0FuFfcCZiE). I am totally blown away by this album. It’s solid in every aspect; songwriting, production, musicianship, and overall quality… it’s just top notch!!! I was really surprised because I was under the impression that The Raconteurs were a straight up punk band, but oh was I wrong! Just quality music being played by quality musicians and recorded with quality care and equipment.
As for Jack White… well there are two types of Jack White to me: the Jack I absolutely hate, and the Jack that I think is AWESOME!!! Luckily the former Jack rarely makes an appearance on this album and what a relief that is! He lends his trademark awesome Jack White licks into Whammy Pedal + Fuzz tone for the guitar tracks, and his unique punky voice to the vocals. One more thing about this album is that the vocal harmonies are top notch as well. Track #3 “You Don’t Understand Me” has some of the most fulfilling vocal harmonies that I have heard on any song since The Beatles.
Jack L.J. Lawrence (the bassist) totally nailed modern John Entwistle tone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dlN55SoF4Q&feature=player_embedded) on Track #2 “Salute Your Solution”. Jack Lawrence is just overall a solid, smart, and creative bass player.
My favourite song on this album has to be Track #8 “Many Shades of Black”. The singer Brendon Benson is just perfect here. I’m not sure if it’s just how the vocals were recorded or how he sung it, but he makes me think of Paul McCartney. Not younger Paul McCartney though, the older more seasoned Paul where he’s just got a bit more character to his voice (Like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osAA8q86COY) This song has it all, good production, interesting bass lines, awesome vocals, AND it’s catchy. Just so powerful. Awesome.
Contrary to popular belief, Stairway to Heaven is barely played by customers. Little Wing and Blackbird are by far the most overplayed/annoying tunes. A close second is anything played in the SRV style.
